Perusing The Declaration of Independence presents the peruser with a window into the universe of progressive America. It passes on the dynamic idea of the time superior to any composed work of the period. The genuine significance of The Declaration of Independence lies not in the reason for which Jefferson made it, to pronounce autonomy from Great Britain, but instead how people in the future have deciphered Jefferson's words. At the point when Jefferson initially expressed in The Declaration of Independence that, All men are made equivalent, that they are blessed by their maker with certain basic rights, he definitely didn't signify all men. If he had then it would be difficult for him to legitimize the way that a sizable level of the American populace was subjugated. He implied that all white, property-possessing Americans were equivalent to their British partners. No thought was given to ladies in The Declaration of Independence, they didn't hold an equivalent status with men in the Jeffersonian model of an American republic. Dracula Paper free essay sample

The contention of science versus strange notion is drawn out all through the entire novel. We realize that a portion of our fundamental characters, Jon, Van Helsing and Dracula all delineate one of the two, or both. Stoker doesn't make a point that religion is a higher priority than science, and the other way around. I for one accept that he attempts to depict that both science and religion are essential to the novel. Through the arrangement of occasions that share inside the span of the novel there are numerous things that one can clarify however not the other. Be that as it may, both science and religion can't clarify everything just themselves. Three of the fundamental characters all depict science, odd notion or a smidgen of both, science and odd notion, speaking to that both can't exist without the other. Jon Harker, our primary character speaks to 100% science, we are truly demonstrated this in the initial four sections in the novel. We will compose a custom paper test on Dracula Paper or on the other hand any comparable theme explicitly for you Don't WasteYour Time Recruit WRITER Just 13.90/page Jon who knows only science attempts to take what he thinks about science and attempts to apply it to Dracula who speaks to something contrary to Jon, 100% notion or religion. There are such huge numbers of things that Harker attempts while he remains at Dracula’s manor. At first he is uncomfortable with remaining with in the palace, however Draculas warm invite quiets Harker quickly. As he settles in he watches Dracula’s physical attributes, pointed ears, amazingly fair skin and astoundingly sharp teeth, Harker becomes uncomfortable once more. He begins to get on little things, for example, why there are no mirrors in the mansion, and why he doesn’t appear during the day. He endeavors to clarify this with science and he battles to do as such. As Jonathan is attempting to figure out how to get away from the palace he has a peculiar gathering with three vampire young ladies, which is abnormal for him. I was hesitant to raise my eyelids, yet watched out and saw superbly under the lashes. The reasonable young lady went on her knees, and twisted around me, decently bragging. There was an intentional attractiveness which was both exciting and appalling, and as she curved her neck she really licked her lips like a creature, till I could find in the evening glow the dampness sparkling on the red lips and on the red tongue as it lapped the white sharp teeth. Lower and lower went her head as the lips went underneath the scope of my mouth and jawline and appeared to affix on my throat. I could feel the soft,â shivering contact of the lips on the supersensitive skin of my throat, and the hard gouges of two sharp teeth, simply contacting and delaying there. I shut my eyes in a languorous ecstacy and held up held up with pulsating heart. (Stoker, 57) Jon Harker isn't sure what's going on and who these young ladies are and he doesn’t figure out how to comprehend this until Dracula appears and instructs them to back of on the grounds that Jon is his. I think this is the point at which it truly settles in for Jon that science can't clarify why Dracula slithers up the sides of the dividers of the château or has dangerously sharp teeth. You are cunning man, companion John; you reason well, and your mind is striking; however you are excessively biased. You don't let your eyes see nor your ears hear, and that which is outside your day by day life isn't of record to you. Ok, it is the issue of our science that it needs to clarify all; and in the event that it clarify not, at that point it says there is nothing to clarify. Van Helsing mourns the thin and preferential vision of Seward, the levelheaded man of science who sees nothing about a definitive reason for Lucys demise and the Un-dead Lucys going after kids. On the off chance that Seward has no information, he can't reach any determination and accordingly incapable to act. He doesn't have confidence in vampires in light of the fact that there is no confirmation, so he is defenseless against the Counts insidious. Van Helsing, conversely, knows this domain since he has kept a receptive outlook and has drawn upon a wide base of information, from current science to antiquated legend. A fearless keeps an eye on blood is the best thing on this planet when a lady is in a tough situation.' (Chapter 12) Van Helsing asks Quincey Morris to give his blood to spare Lucys life. All through the novel, there is an ethically upstanding quality to the blood that the men give to Lucy. In Chapter 10, Van Helsing remarks that Holmwood is so youthful and solid and of blood so unadulterated that we need not defibrinate it. The unadulterated and healthy blood of these fine youngsters remains as opposed to the spoiled, demise managing blood of the Count, who contaminates his casualties with the scourge of vampirism.

Plato s The Trial And Death Of Socrates Essay - 1671 Words

Plato’s The Trial and Death of Socrates presents the reader with complex competing conceptions of what should be considered â€Å"the good life†. According to Socrates, â€Å"the most important thing is not life, but the good life† (Crito, 48b). The majority, who live a non-philosophical life, believes the goods of life include wealth, reputation, and honor: all things that can easily be taken away or destroyed. On the other hand, Socrates lives a philosophical life filled with self-sufficiency. He views wisdom, truth, and the best possible state of one’s soul as the goods of life. The plot in The Trial and Death of Socrates arises as Socrates challenges the minds of those around him. After being accused of â€Å"corrupting the young and of not believing in the gods in whom the city believes, but in other new spiritual things†, Socrates faces the death penalty (Apology, 24b-c). The challenge the reader faces within The Trial and Death of Socrates st ands as deciding rather the philosophical or non-philosophical life serves as the flourishing life. In The Trial and Death of Socrates, â€Å"the majority† serves as the embodiment of the non-philosophical life. A flourishing life, according to the majority, revolves around the â€Å"eagerness to possess as much wealth, reputation, and honors as possible† (Apology, 29e). Somers states that student writers view revision or rewriting differently. Students usually think of revision or rewriting as switching words for better ones, or rephrasing sentences. Somers explains that students who think that way actually are not improving their writing, but are Just replacing their words with similar ones. The students cant figure out what the huge mistake is on their paper, and decide to not fix it because they do not know how; or someones not guiding them. Somers believe that students are enable to fix how repetitive they are in an essay because they cannot hear it. If they were able to hear their essays out loud, then they will be able to notice it. The main reason why most students cannot revise their essays or make changes to them is because they see it in their own way. To them, the essay seems perfectly fine, so without being open-minded to other views, students cannot improve their writing. We will write a custom essay sample on Sommers Article or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page My revision process relates to many of the student writers stories in Summers article. Somers state that most student writers believe that revising is almost the same as rewording or rephrasing. Most of my revision process is me rewording or rephrasing my sentences/words. I always try to see if theres a word that could have a fancier looking word replace it, or change the sentence around so that it sounds or looks better. I also agree with her opinion on repetition for student writers. I never really notice that Im repeating sentences or words unless I read it at least a few times, or read it out loud by myself. Other than that, the rest of the process I try to see if Im missing important points in my essay or if Im including sentences that dont necessarily need to be there. In addition, I believe that the reason I revise is because Im forced to because my teachers required me to make changes as a part of my grade. If I wasnt required to do so, then I would Just hand in my paper unedited. I believe that in the second section of Summers article Revision Strategies of Experienced Adult Writers, would be completely different than that of the one about student writers. I think that itll state how the experienced adult writers would be able to have some type of strategy that helps them think outside of the box, and look at the essay in different perspectives. I predict that Somers will tell the audience owe experienced adult writers are able to find that large mistake in their essay and fix it. As for the rewording part, I think that adult writers would do the same, but not make that as a major part of their revision process. I think that experienced adult writers would be able to focus more on the missing and unneeded information in an essay. Basically, I feel like whatever the student writers have trouble with the adult writers are able to overcome that easily; and if student writers are able to do something, then the adult writers are able to do that better. But as President of NASH, will make sure that I keep my promises- thats what good looking people do! I will keep you up-to-date about everything that is going on; whether it be through Backbone or the announcements, you will always know where and wh en you will be needed. I will make a plethora of service opportunities available so that you will have no problem completing your community service hours. All information will be up to snuff and readily available for you in an organized and clear fashion. Ill verse all activities and make sure the rest of the executive committee carries out their duties so that you are enjoying being part of NASH. That is all I can promise for now, but in the case that am elected, will do even more. I sincerely hope that you will find me the candidate most qualified for this position because of my intellect, dedication, oratorical skills, experience, and devilishly handsome good looks. I must now give immense props to you, the reader, from the bottom of my heart, for bearing with me for the entirety of this paragraph. First and foremost, congratulations to all Of you on your acceptance into NASH. Each and every one of you has worked hard to be where you are today. So go ahead and give yourself a pat on the back! Just like you, I know what it feels like to sit at home with Google, Sparseness, Backbone, Wisped, Youth and countless other tabs scattered across our computer screens. Every day is an obstacle; an obstacle filled with Moms, derivatives, LOIS, Spanish vocabulary, physics homework, and the sudden realization that the rest of our homework will just have to wait because ifs too late in the night.Weve all worked hard to get the grades we want and excel in scholarship. However, moieties we forget that there is more to NASH than just scholarship. It seems to be held in higher regard over the others. Although important GAP, class rank, ACT scores, titles, etc. -? they should not dictate who you are. If elected president, Id like to focus my time strengthening our character, leadership, and service roles at school and in our community. Now, Id like to have this opportunity to tell you a little bit about myself and why believe Id make a good friend and president this coming year.First, I believe that organization is one of my major qualities and I think it is key in getting service opportunities scheduled and set for all of us. If each service project is well planned, we will be able to make the most of all our opportunities. Would be more than happy to talk to students, community members and district officials to add to the success of all events planned. I am also involved in numerous clubs and activities, and therefore have become accustomed to managing my time. This quality is vital since senior year will be very busy and demanding for all of us.However, will not neglect my responsibilities as president. I am also passionate about what NASH has to offer and therefore ill be very inclined and interested in assisting community members who need volunteer support. This means that all events planned will be as fun as possible! Lastly, believe that I am qualified for this leadership position because of my consideration to others and their opinions. The title of this position may be president but I believe that there is no main leader of NASH. We all have something great to contribute to this club and will make sure that thoughts, opinions, and concerns are expressed.I am always friendly and cheerful, so there is no reason anyone should be afraid to speak up. I inanely care about everyone and the success of NASH. But enough about me. Next year is about us. I am determined to do whatever is needed to make next year fun and rewarding for everyone. However, actions speak louder than words. So instead of me rambling on about what I can do for you, our school, and community as your friend and leader: let me show you, next year as your president. Am running for president of the national honor society. I am running for this position because I want to be greatly involved in NASH and all its activities.I believe I have a strong desire and ability to cooperate with everyone in order o provide customized opportunities that will suit every students personal needs. I want to get closer to you as a colleague and as a friend. We will work hard to make root changes, and with all of your help, we can show everyone who the honor students are and what we can do. CANDIDATES FOR VICE PRESIDENT Even though theres others running against me for the position of Vice President, I think the best candidate is the one whos paragraph youre reading right now. Mine.Heres why: love helping others and the feeling of fulfillment get after helping someone out is really powerful. Knowing that I eloped someone, put a smile on their face, or even just became someone they could talk to makes me want to not only run for Vice President of NASH, but make a true impact on the community around us. I have a hectic schedule, but stay on task very well, and stay organized with the help of my sacred planner. If put my mind to something, I can achieve it, and this kind of determination is what hope to bring to this group next year. Loud like share my ideas, as well as take other peoples input, and do my best to carry out their ideas. One of my specific goals would be to work more with other schools on certain NASH community service projects in order to make a bigger impact on more peoples lives. I want to make this a club that everyone wants to become a part of, and enjoys coming to our Monday morning meetings- and we all know how hard that could be. Being the approachable and lovable( like a puppy) person that I am has also given me opportunities to do community service with younger kids, and many other unforgettable experiences. Giving back to the community is very important, and I hope I can help lead all of you towards doing that. Allow me to begin with congratulating my fellow esteemed scholars with this exceptional opportunity presented before us. It is an honor to be inducted in NASH and as vice president I will recognize this honor. Am easy to talk to and communicate well with others, a vital characteristic of a leader. I will assist the president in making decisions that will affect NASH as a whole. Realize that we all have other commitments to adhere to, but believe that we as a group can make something extraordinary. M empathetic with the fact that junior year has been crazy for all of us as scholars and senior year will be too with college admissions, but as vice president, will ensure a stress-free experience for all f us. Im outspoken and not afraid to contribute my ideas in a group setting, yet I know the importance of considering others ideas to achieve a common goal. A leader is not a dictator and it is important for those in the executive committee to remember that. We must lead by example, and not simply boss others around in the process. If you elect me vice president, will do everything in my power to ensure a successful year for NASH.NASH is an organization centered upon giving us students the opportunity to initiate service projects in order to give back to our community, and this is a monumental principle that believe every member needs to keep in mind while choosing a vice president or any other position for that matter. During my time at Maine West, I have been fortunate enough to be involved in a variety of activities which have given me the skills needed to effectively lead and organize. Am a member of the music department, a member of Voice for the Nameless, a COACH tutor, a junior lea der, and a captain of two varsity sports teams here at Maine West. In Voice for the Nameless, I have gained invaluable experience working with adults to help organize events with the Chicago Activist Network and Amnesty International. In regards to working with my peers, being a COACH tutor has allowed me to work individually with my fellow students. On the other hand, being involved in the music department and sports has given me a great deal Of experience handling large groups of people. Whether it be patiently listening to any questions or ideas that you may have as an individual, or ensuring that our meetings run smoothly and swiftly (who wants to wake up an extra 30 minutes early for a meeting?! My experience as a leader will prove most valuable in being a successful and effective vice president. Being a captain of not one, but two ports teams has allowed me to become adept at leading, making decisions, taking initiative, managing a large group, and gaining the cooperation of others. Have become familiar with holding the responsibility of not o nly leading by taking charge, but also to lead by setting an example for my teammates. Dedication is also a very important element to consider when choosing any leader. Candidates may say that they will do this or do that, but many will lose interest for NASH a few weeks into the school year. I believe that dedication is what keeps the dynamic of NASH, and the best proof of my dedication would eave to be my academic record. My schedule is packed with all AP and accelerated classes and I rank in the top 3% of our class. As any student knows, academics can be stressful and adding even more on top of that, sports, clubs, and work, makes school even tougher.I believe it is because Of my never-ending dedication to everything I do that allows me to be successful in academics as well as my extracurricular activities. If chosen as vice president, I will set forth this same dedication to giving back to our community and making NASH more successful than it has ever been before. It s because of our community that I have been given the opportunity to be a part of so many groups and to grow as a leader. I earnestly hope that you will choose me as your next vice president and give me the opportunity to help you give back to our community in some of the greatest ways yet.Elections are a tricky businesses, because you can never fulfill the needs of everyone you are trying to please. So how would as the Vice President be any better than the people who ran before me? Well that is honestly a matter for you to decide. If I was elected as the UP I would as those before me have, attempt to go with what helps the most people HOWEVER would not forget the ones who werent pleased with the initial decision. I would constantly be consulting with the Perez on matters and issues that could be done for those who couldnt benefit from the choices already made for the NASH members.

The Concepts of HR Management in Japan Research Paper

The Concepts of HR Management in Japan - Research Paper Example HR managers, for instance, might be foreseeing the organization's enduring hiring needs based on demands of company growth and proficiency requirements. Or they might be increasing organization-wide human resource information systems that trail all of the information concerning employees that used to be stored on paper in file drawers. Or they can be benchmarking company HR practices against industry competitors (Konrad, A.M., and Linnehan, F., 1999). All these are big, protracted jobs, and they do not leave HR managers many resources sagging to deal with the fundamental tasks (e.g., hiring, firing, and training etc.) that used to be the restricted area of the HR department. In Japan, there are different concepts concerning the continued viability of concepts of HRM, shushinkoyo is among that popular concept in large Japanese firms. Kobayashi of Aoyama Gakuin University believes that the three foundations of Japanese human resource management shushinkoyo, nenko joretsu, and kigyo-betsu rodokumiai (long-term employment, the seniority system, and enterprise-based unions) are crumbling and that there are most important changes ahead (Kilburn, 1994:45 ). Kobayashi points out that while major corporations can still retain much of the substance of long-term employment by off-loading excess employees to subsidiaries or associates, few now see this as more than a stopgap solution. Noguchi of Hitotsubashi University states that white-collar employees require to get used to the idea that they can lose their jobs (Rosario, 1993:22 ). Noguchi believes that it is a long-term trend that will not go away when the economy picks up. It is not just employers who are having subsequent thoughts about shushinkoyo. More and more employees themselves have an aspiration to seek new opportunities outside their present company. In Japan, a term borrowed from English 'u-turn' refers to the trend of leaving big city jobs to go to smaller towns so as to enjoy a better lifestyle or freedom from the constraints of working in a large company. The number of employees opting for the 'u-turn' saw a considerable increase from the mid-eighties. Fundamental HR activities in Japan are progressively more being decentralized and handed off to managers like line managers working front-and-center. That is a good thing, for the most part. After all, you are the one who is working with your employees' day in and day out. Pucik and Hatvany (1983) summarize Japanese HRM strategies as (1) the development of an internal labor market, (2) company philosophies that stress strong ties between the company and employees and (3) an exhaustive socialization process that emphasizes co-operation and teamwork. The first strategy, the development of an internal labor market, requires the practice of shushinkoyo. As the Japanese firm recruits fresh graduates with the intention of employing them during the foremost portion of their productive lives. The subsequent strategy is implemented by taking advantage of collectivist tendencies and creating a strong bond between the employee and the company through socialization and the way benefits are structured. The third strategy is achieved by the encouragement of a group-oriented mentality.

Religious Education Curriculum as a Basis for Developing an Ethos of Essay

Religious Education Curriculum as a Basis for Developing an Ethos of Mutual Respect among Pupils - Essay Example I discovered the importance of educational acts such as the Education Act especially in ensuring that the Religious Education curriculum is effective. Educational reforms are important and can only be much beneficial when implemented for the general national good. For example, excluding independent schools from the national educational reforms is a great setback and can cause great harm to the educational system and cripple the efforts made toward achieving a united country. I support the opinion that religious education must be taught as part of the national curriculum, in all schools for at least a few minutes per day and that collective worship during school meeting time or lessons facilitates the understanding of the role of religion among students. Even though people have the right to withdraw their children from schools that offer obligatory religious education, this denies the children the right to acquire good personal attributes and social understanding that I consider to be very essential for any individual who want to coexist well with others. Moreover everyone’s right to worship and to associate with a particular religion should be respected. I concur with the idea that integrating religious education within the national curriculum will go a long way in developing pupils’ knowledge and understanding of Christianity and other religions. It is true that embedding the Religious Education curriculum in local syllabuses and school frameworks has helped many nations to identify and embrace important principles for religious education (Ashcroft and Palacio, 1997, p.169). Religious education builds up students’ knowledge and understanding of Christianity as well as other principal religions and religious traditions in the world. It makes a unique contribution to the school curriculum by developing pupils’ knowledge and understanding of religion, religious beliefs, practices, languages and traditions and their influence on individuals, communities, societies and cultures. It is much profitable and extremely important that religious education be a nationally agreed syllabus. The education authorities and Standard Advisory Council for Religious Education must come together and device new policies that incorporate the religious teachings and education into the national syllabus (Ashcroft and Palacio, 1997, p.72) .Countries dominated by one particular religion must learn to embrace and tolerate religious diversity. The increased international relations denote that countries must now be more accommodative and able to absorb people of different and diverse multicultural backgrounds. Teaching pupils the diversity of today’s society and the varying differences in religious beliefs and cultures creates a more civilized and understanding society. Religious education encourages the students and the society to accommodate and tolerate people of diverse cultures and enables the pupils and students to explore multi-cultural and multi- faiths, encouraging them to coexist well with people around them

Interracial Marriage Essay Example for Free

Interracial Marriage Essay Interracial marriage is used to describe marriages that take place between people who are from different linguistic, religious, or nations or ethnic groups. There are substantial increases in the number of individuals engaging in interracial. Relationships between people from different ethnic and cultural groups are becoming increasingly common because of globalization and improvement of technology. Internet technology has brought together the world in that people can enter into a relationship with anyone from any countries. In some countries, it is against the law to marry someone of a different race. These countries include Germany during the Nazi period, South Africa under apartheid, and some states in the United States before a 1969 ruling. In some Arab countries, it is forbidden for an Arab to marry outside their race because of the law and traditional customs. If an Arab person marries someone out of their race, their civil rights are taken away from them. In 2008, Pakistani senators allowed women to be buried alive if they married someone outside their race. People Most Attracted to Intercultural Relationships/ Marriages To begin the series on intercultural marriage, beginning with a discussion about who exactly tends to be most attracted to intercultural relationships/marriages in the first place seems like a good place to start. It’s certainly not for everyone, as mixed marriages are full of unique challenges that married people from the same culture may never face. In Romano’s book â€Å"Intercultural Marriage,† she lists 5 common types of people who tend to be involved in intercultural relationships. The first type is the Romantic type: those who see people from other cultures as exotic, fascinating, and thrilling. These people may find people from their own culture boring and predictable, and thrive in the mystique of people from far away and foreign lands. The second type is the Compensator. These people often feel like something is missing from their lives and believe they have found it in another person or culture, as they believe elements from that person/culture fulfills what is missing from their own. Romano notes that this type is found even in couples who marry from their own cultures, who are simply looking for someone to fulfill what they lacked growing up. Rebels are slightly different from the compensators in that they dislike much about their own culture and are intent on finding someone from somewhere else. Sometimes they have a specific target culture in mind; other times they simply take whatever fate brings them. Internationals, the next type of people drawn to intercultural marriage, are those who lived outside their native countries for most of their lives, and are typically children of missionaries, diplomats, military personnel, and so on. These people often do not feel as though they completely belong to one particular culture, as they tend to have been influenced by several cultures and therefore have a wide appreciation and love for differences. The final category is comprised of others. These people may not fit into their society and often are ostracized from it. Finding love in a different culture is a way to find a place to fit in and be accepted. Some of them are not considered to be attractive in their native culture, and have better luck in another culture. Others are part of a minority and find acceptance in another culture. Still others live in poverty and marry as a way to improve their quality of life. Barriers Oftentimes, couples in intercultural marriages face barriers that most married couples of the same culture are not exposed to. Intercultural marriages are often influenced by external factors that can create dissonance and disagreement in relationships. Different cultures endure vastly diverse moral, ethical and value foundations that influence their perceptions of individual, family and societal lifestyle. When these foundations are operating alongside the foundation of different cultural roots, as in intercultural marriages, problems and disagreement oftentimes occur. 1. Family and Society The most common external factors influencing intercultural relationships and marriages are the acceptance of the family and the society in which the couple lives. Sometimes, the families of the partners display rejection, resistance, hostility and lack of acceptance for their kin’s partner. Specific issues regarding the family; including generational gaps in ideology, and how the wedding will be held; which ties into how tradition will or will not be practiced. Many intercultural couples report conflict arising over issues of how to carry out child raising and religious worship as well. 2. Language In a mixed marriage where the partners do not share the same mother tongue, the language in which they decide to communicate at home can be symbolic of the extent to which each partner is prepared to forego his or her cultural background and incorporate new elements. There may also be elements of control and dependence in the choice of language when one partner refuses to learn the other’s language. There is a case-study of a so-called bought bride from Asia. The German husband had no knowledge of her language, while she could speak some English, but no German. Communication in such a relationship proved to be extremely difficult, and all decisions and dealings with the outside world where necessarily undertaken by the German husband. The wife could not find any but the most menial jobs where the necessity of understanding was limited, which further increased her economic dependence on him. 3. Communication Style Intercultural couples may possess differing communication styles. Individuals from a high context culture are not verbally explicit in their communication behaviors. These cultures typically consist of eastern world countries where collectivism and relational harmony underlie communication behavior. By contrast, individuals from a low context culture use direct and obvious communication styles to convey information. In situations where marriage occurs between two people from differing communication contextual backgrounds, conflict may arise from relational challenges posed by the underlying assumptions of high/low context cultures. Challenges posed by differing communication styles are common among intercultural marriage couples. The longer the two individuals have existed in the current culture the less likely this is to pose an issue. If one or more partners within the marriage is relatively new to the dominant culture, the likelihood for conflict to unfold o n these bases increases. Solution/ Suggestions 1. Learn How to Appreciate One of the ways to deal with interracial dating issues is acceptance of partner the way he or she is. Most issues arise when one or both partners want to have their way in everything that they do. It is therefore important to ensure that they appreciate their wife or husband with all his or her cultural practices. Since they come different regions, differences in the way of life are bound to happen. They must desist from criticizing each other based on cultural grounds or race. As a matter of fact they must never stereotype or generalize happenings as this can be the cause of interracial conflicts. If they are willing to love, understand and respect each other’s differences, you’re on the right track. 2. Learn More about the Culture Another thing they need to do in order to solve issues with interracial relationships is to study each other well before engaging. Discuss the symbolism or significance of each other’s important cultural traditions. Understanding the significance of these traditions will help to understand them. This will help them to have a more natural, familiar feeling toward the others traditions, accept and embrace the culture of the other. After some time, they will even feel the desire to incorporate culture into their own family traditions. Besides, they need to know what values their partner stands for and to establish whether they can accommodate them. When they understand their partner in advance, it becomes easier for them to solve any interracial dating concerns. One advantage of being married to someone from another country is to get travel from time to time. When they can travel, make sure to visit the spouses family and learn about their culture firsthand. Furthermore this prepares them for the future thus allowing them to solve situations better. 3. Maintain Contact with Family It is essential that foreign spouse keeps in contact with his or her family, especially as they are probably a long way from each other. With time, he or she will feel of longing for their family, homesickness, and even possible loneliness and depression. It is necessary that he or she can keep contact to his or her family. Today, the Internet and sites like Facebook and Twitter make this type of contact much easier, and your spouse happier. Help your spouse to develop friendships with people from his or her country or families that speak their language somehow so that they will know more people and may feel at home

Individual and Society Essay -- Essays Papers

Individual and Society Medicine Since 1715 Medicine has been a great advancement in society. Without the advancement in medicine, we would not have the lifestyle that we do today. Many different nations and individuals within those nations have contributed to this progression. Medicine has greatly increased the life- span of humans. We are where we stand today because of the many great people we have had in our history who contributed to and performed medical advances. The tests and theories of these people have been a major contributing factor. William Cullen said, "Every one nowadays pretends to neglect theory, and to stick to observation. But the first is in talk only, for every man has his theory, good or bad, which he occasionally employs; and the only difference is, that weak men who have little extent of ability for, or have had little experience in reasoning, are most liable to be attached to frivolous theories."1 William Cullen's expression concerning the importance of theories was proved to be correct due to the many contributions of the theories of those who studied medicine. In 1790, the birthrate was high, along with the death rate. The majority of deaths occurred among the infants and young children. The death rate of the population as a whole was higher than today. Although children born had only a 75% chance of surviving past the age of five, the beginning advances in medicine aided the population growth causing the population to increase in England. The medical schools, hospitals, medical societies and journals, medical knowledge, and doctors of 1790 did not perform life- prolonging therapeutics. In Science and the practice of Medicine in the Nineteenth Century, it was concluded that "many laymen, and... ...Sheikh, Eastern and Western Approaches to Healing (New York: John Wiley & Sons, 1989), 65.
